What is a Harrier?
In 1867 a group of Londoners took up an old English schoolboy game called Hares and Hounds (from 1830’s) as a way to stay in shape and subsequently adopted the name Harriers. Since then, the term has become a nickname for cross-country runners worldwide.

What kind of training/running/walking is done?
Because the Harrier season is during winter we run/walk in all weathers and often off road. The usual length of run/walk
is 1 hour. Depending on fitness levels it could be from 5 to 15km distance. The Harrier season has a planned calendar of different events where participants are timed, earn points or even run in pairs. The aim is to have fun and variety; gaining PB's (personal bests) along the way.
If you have something specific to train for then talk to the senior members who will be happy to help.
